JANICE LAZZARICH BIO
Janice Lazzarich is an oil painter and illustrator and works in the traditional oil painting techniques, mostly in the Alla Prima impressionistic loose but sometimes realistic style. She has had three solo exhibitions and taken part in many group exhibitions. She has paintings in private collections in South Africa, United Kingdom, United States, The Netherlands and Australia.
She was born in Cape Town, South Africa and moved to Salisbury, Rhodesia when she was 10 years old, then moved back to Cape Town in 1978. Lazzarich followed a 23 year career as a graphic designer in advertising, and then decided to change her career path to fine art, to enable her to raise her son and paint at the same time. She studied fine art over a period of four years with well known South African artist Ryno Swart, in the disciplines of oil painting, watercolour painting, pastel drawing, charcoal and pencil drawing and anatomy. In 2008 the Lazzarich family then relocated to England, settling in Warrington in the North West. She has illustrated 5 children's books in collaboration with Vancouver author Warren Ackhurst and has had them published.
She has taught oil painting classes and workshops, and given demonstrations for art groups and for many years she has attended Life Drawing sessions at The Pyamid Arts Centre, Warrington UK . Currently, she is producing drawing and oil painting tutorial videos for her You Tube channel which came about because of being in lockdown during the Covid 19 pandemic, and is also working on a new collection of work for an upcoming solo exhibition.

(as I was still working in advertising in the daytime) We studied oil painting, watercolour painting, pastel painting, charcoal drawing and anatomy.
1974 HIGH SCHOOL QUALIFICATIONS: O’Levels at Oriel Girls High, Salisbury, Rhodesia. Our family relocated to Salisbury Rhodesia when I was 10 years old. Then we relocated back to Cape Town, South Africa in 1978 when I turned 20 years old.
