Sessions run Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 5pm.

Pay £80 for 4 weeks.

Everyone chooses their own subject or memory image to paint from.

We explore oils with a bit of acrylic and charcoal.

Preparation of canvas for painting with a wash in oils or acrylic.

Drawing into wet wash with paint or using pencil or charcoal to get your drawing onto canvas.

The gridding up technique or tracing of subject matter for people you want more control.

How to apply paint for blocking in the basic areas,

I will take you through the relevant colour mixing.

Then the application of direct painting for the construction and details of your subject. 

Then impasto to finish using palette knife techniques.

Glazing techniques for adding a thin layer of paint mixed with medium and turps.

Varnishing tips for when the painting is really dry.

Brush maintenance and the cleaning of brushes.

Please bring your own apron.

 

We may experiment with still life, landscape, seascape, birds, animals, an abstract, a portrait or a pet portrait and anything else we are inspired to do!!

 

This class is suitable for beginners, and is fun for advanced painters as we all learn from each other.

It is a relaxed friendly environment with tea, coffee, chocolates and biscuits on tap.
