I took the photo that I used for this painting when we were visiting the Etosha National Park in Namibia. It is almost all desert and salt pans in this area so the waterholes are teeming with wildlife, and an absolute haven for photographers. I was lucky enough to get these five giraffe all standing is these positions and of course I kept in my mind to paint it one day.
